Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photographer

Claire & Phill’s wedding photos from Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire

Claire & Phill were married in February at Sandhole Oak Barn. When we met last year, and the couple asked me to be their Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photographer, we were rather hoping for snow for the wedding day. It would have been lovely. Even the damp day from their E-Shoot would have been welcome, but alas. What we actually got was the midpoint of the storms battering the UK and torrential wind and rain… proper heavy duty stuff as we all remember.

It all started well, with a lovely bit of sunshine and a breeze like an average day in Blackpool, and while  Gemma from Doll Face was quietly getting the girls ready, I had time in my schedule to nip down the road to catch up with the lads in the Waggon & Horses pub.

Keeping to my schedule, I was duly back ‘on site’ to photograph guests’ arrival, and Claire having her finishing touches applied – all still very relaxed. It was good to see Annette too, from Top Table  – a good choice Claire, using one of the best around to feed the ‘gang’.

Quiet chaos!

We had scheduled some formal images, and Claire very bravely pushed for us to shoot some. The wind and rain though, was horrible, so we managed about three minutes outside, sheltered by the side of the cottage where the bridal preparations had taken place earlier. Aha! Phill had a spare key, so we ventured inside to shoot some unstaged, live images of the two of them enjoying each other’s company. I quickly cleared everything from the floor and we were up and running. It’s times like this when everything seems stacked against us, that a good wedding photographer will still produce the goods, maybe off brief, and maybe even improve on the original plan too…but that’s not my call, I’ll leave that to my clients.. 😉

I set up a radio-triggered flashgun  to shoot a few more formal images. Claire and Phill did their best to ignore the comments and general barracking from their friends…well done guys! Then…with a gasp, it was time for me to put my feet up and have a quick break while the wedding breakfast was underway.
