Rivington Hall Barn Wedding
Highlights from Suzanne & Danny’s brilliant day at this unique Lancashire wedding venue
Suzanne & Danny booked me for their wedding having met me at The Great Northern Wedding Show, organised by the team at Little White Books. When I met Suzanne I had a curious feeling of deja vu, and was convinced we’d met before. But no. Fast forward a year to August and I was at Suzanne’s mum’s with ‘a football team of ladies’ getting ready for the wedding. In a moment’s conversation with Suzanne’s dad, it appears that she has a famous uncle in the music industry. When the penny dropped, I nearly dropped one of the Nikons! Suzanne’s uncle is John Foxx – and principle founder of the band Ultravox in the 1970’s! After a career spanning forty years, John is still gigging, recording, and still a massive influence to many in the electronic genre – Gary Numan to name but one. He’s my ultimate musical hero too, and a 100% Desert Island Disc artist should I ever get to be on the show (fat chance!) Alas, John couldn’t make the wedding. I was gutted! Anyway, shock over…back to the wedding!
Lancashire Wedding Suppliers
Suzanne & Danny’s wedding was going to be a church ceremony in Euxton, followed by a stunning reception at Rivington Hall Barn. On board with me for the day were Cedar House Productions – and, spookily, almost neighbours in the Prestwich/Whitefield area! Flowers were provided by The Gilded Lily – a very busy florist indeed! I’ve worked with them a few times over this past season. Wedding transport was ably provided by Horgans – one of the best in the business. Oh – and Suzanne herself is a very established make up artist in Chorley too, who was on make up duties at Jodie & Kane’s wedding around eight weeks’ later!
Stunning Lancashire Wedding Venue
This was toi be my first visit to the venue – and it was everything I’d been told. A stunning barn conversion, with a great, low-lit atmosphere, and perfect for weddings. Brilliant – time to pull out those fast prime lenses for some amazing available light photography for the details, and, later on the speeches. Rivington Hall Barn is a stunning Lancashire wedding venue, and worth checking out for your wedding day.
Wedding reception on the terrace
With the August sunshine beaming down on us, the guests were treated to gorgeous canapes and ice cream on the terrace. All quintessentially British Wedding fare, and perfect for the day. I never got chance to grab mine though…too busy! 🙁
Natural Bride and groom photos
After the wedding breakfast and speeches were over, we ventured into the grounds for a little fresh air and a few bride and groom photos. Nothing staged or forced, just a few natural images in the style I shoot, in around fifteen minutes. There were a few fairy lights on the trees already lit, so time for me to jump in the nettles and be brave! We were getting close to the evening reception by now – time for the first dance, a father and daughter dance, plus the chaos of the packed dancefloor when the two ladies from Volts Duo fired up their saxaphone and violin and treated us to some live music accompaniment. And they were brilliant!
