Marquee Wedding Photographer
Highlights from Katie & Sam’s brilliant Marquee wedding in the Peak District
Marquee Wedding Photographer
Katie & Sam commissioned me to be their Marquee Wedding Photographer for their big day last Summer. Theirs was to be a a ‘Proper English Village’ wedding, with a ceremony at church, followed by a stunning Marquee wedding at Sam’s parents’ home. Based in Edale, Sam’s father is the local minister too, so was officiating the ceremony! Edale is a beautiful village, aboiut an hour or so from Manchester, in the heart of the Peak District and a stunning location to work in. Katie and the girls were getting ready two minutes’ walk away from Edale Church itself – no wedding transport required…well, maybe later. My day as a marquee wedding photographer was going to be a brilliant one, I could tell. Here are some highlights from the day.
Wedding flowers in the Peak District
Local florists The Floral Collection supplied the stunning hand-tied bouquets for Katie and the bridesmaids. They were truly stunning to photograph as a marquee wedding photographer – I used an old leather chair to contrast the textures of the flowers and the background. As the morning ticked on, the excitement was beginning to rise. More and more friends arrived at the house to get ready for the wedding, and the music got louder competing with the hair dryers too.
Recommended Wedding Videographers
I captured Katie & Sam’s wedding alongside Brendon & Rick from Brighthand Productions. I’ve worked with them a few times, and it’s always a pleasure. These guys produce top quality wedding videos and work in a similar style to me as a marquee wedding photographer, because they are also unobtrusive and love capturing documentary-style moments. Worth checking out if you’re looking for a videography for your wedding.
Unique Wedding Transport
I did mention that no wedding transport was required, however…the locals had got together with a surprise for Katie & Sam. A converted tractor trailer, complete with sofa and balloons awaited them outside church, for the half-mile journey back to the house and the marquee. Perfect!
Bespoke Wedding Planner
The whole day was expertly planned by Helen from With Helen Davies – a luxury professional wedding planner in high demand. Helen was Sarah Beeny’s in-house wedding planner at Rise Hall for several years before flying solo. I can thoroughly recommend Helen – great fun, motivated and relaxed in her approach to the day. Everything was running like clockwork, making my day as a marquee wedding photographer that bit easier. If you need a wedding planner – give her a call!
Wedding Photos at Home
With the marquee in place, we spent a few minutes photographing some natural couple portraits in Sam’s mum’s garden. “Ask Mick to get some lovely shots of my flowers would you Sam!” Mum is very proud of here garden, and with good reason. It IS stunning! As the prosecco was pouring and the guests were enjoying the day, my time as a marquee wedding photographer meant I was in my element. I really love marquee weddings, whatever the weather. Yes, I have photographed a stunning Tipi wedding in February in North Lancashire – see Alex & Daniel’s wedding HERE with their marquee on mum’s neighbours’ field.
Peak District Wedding Band
After the brilliant and funny speeches, it was time for the party to begin. The sun was still up so I opted to travel light as a marquee wedding photographer for the first dance onwards. I balanced the existing daylight with a little fill in flash as top wedding and events band We Have You Covered hit the floor running so to speak. The dance floor filled instantly as soon as the first dance was finishing. This was going to be a raucous evening. Sadly I had to leave to travel to another wedding, so I left the guests dancing to ‘Mr Brightside’. Thank you for inviting me to be your marquee wedding photographer guys.
