Highlights from Megan & James’ fantastic Deanwater Hotel Wedding in Cheshire
Deanwater Hotel Wedding Photographer
I remember the very morning the phone rang with this chirpy voice “Hello Mate – are you available to photograph our wedding at The Deanwater Hotel….” It was day one of a week’s holiday in mid France, and I was literally just sitting down next to the pool in the garden. “Hi James, yes I think so but I’m away on holiday for a week…let me check and I’ll email you back”
“Yeah, no problem pal…speak soon” he said. So I duly emailed him back on my return, and a week or so later we met at Megan’s mum’s house in Mellor. The meeting went well. One of my questions was, where are you getting married? Megan, James and Megan’s parents all pointed through the window to the church over the field. “There” they all laughed. I knew this was going to be a brilliant wedding already!
Here’s some highlights from Megan & James’ wedding…
Bridal Preparations photographs
I caught up with Megan and the girls at her mum’s house for Bridal Preparation Photographs. Things were in full swing – it was warm, very warm with the summer day and the hairdryers doing their thing. As their Deanwater Wedding Photographer, I was looking to the ceremony in church…literally still across that rear field…and working at the venue itself.
I caught up with James and the groomsmen at The Devonshire Arms for a couple of pre-ceremony beers. Not me though…a quick coffee was all I needed, to keep me focused. Some of the wedding guests came to the pub too, and the crowd was growing at a steady rate. Soon it was time to head up down the road to the church for the ceremony.
Stunning Bridesmaids Dresses
I met the bridesmaids arriving in relay in the wedding car at St Thomas’ church. The car was one of Horgans and driven by my old mate Barry. They all looked stunning in their dresses and were up for a party! They waited down back at the church gates as the guests arrived, posing for a couple of shots that they wanted to do…so I dutifully obliged. As the wedding car made it’s third journey, containing both Megan and her dad, the bridesmaids were almost bursting with anticipation. We were now on full tilt as my being a Deanwater Wedding Photographer. Even the locals turned out to cheer Megan on as she walked to church.
Colour Wedding Photos
Curiously, Megan & James’ wedding was one of those that cried out to be photographed in colour. Yes, there were some mono images in the collection, but on the whole, colour was king for this wedding. Edited in my natural, trademark style, Megan & James’ wedding photos looked perfect what I had in mind when I was their Deanwater Hotel Wedding Photographer. Their wedding album too was nearly 95% colour images too.
Family Group Photos
With the family group photos and a brilliant confetti throw ‘in the bag’, we made our way to the Deanwater Hotel for the reception. Barry from Horgans brought the wedding car to the front of the hotel for a few ‘wall hanger’ portraits. As the guests made their way to the suite, we grabbed 15 mins for some stylish and natural couple photos. Nobody even noticed we were missing!
Natural Wedding Photos
I pride myself on producing very natural looking wedding photos – with a little style thrown in too. All my clients comment on how realistic and natural my work is, and how my ‘look’ doesn’t date. I like to mix the modern with the traditional at times, and lets be honest, who doesn’t love a couple of good formal shots from a wedding? Just before the speeches were about to begin, we went for a lap ’round the block’, using the natural sunlight to bounce around the lens to create some lovely lens flare.
Expect The Unexpected
After the speeches were over, we spent ten minutes or so, to cool down and have a wander. The sunlight was catching the fountain at the front of the hotel, so as a Deanwater Hotel Photographer, I used this effect to our advantage. A quick simple pose, using the natural rainbow in the shot, and hey presto! NO photoshopping here ladies and gentlemen… 🙂
We then we went back in to start the evening party….
