Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer
Highlights from a brilliant
Styled Cover Shoot for
Little White Books
Wedding Planning Magazine
Recently I was invited as a Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer, to be the cover photographer for Little White Books, to photograph the new images for the Spring 2019 edition. This is cover number sixteen (I think) that I have photographed for the company. Little White Books is a informative, concise and very handy wedding planning magazine, brilliantly designed and laid out. It features the very best wedding suppliers in Lancashire (and me!) and is a definite go-to wedding planning magazine.
Recommended wedding suppliers
I was obviously part of a team, not just a Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer. No, onboard for the day were some truly lovely – and talented – people. These people are all recommended wedding suppliers, and in-demand for weddings all around Lancashire and the North West. so ‘Team LWB’ rocked up (I’ve been told to say this) early one November morning at this truly stunning wedding venue. I got there nice and early too, so I could chill out with a pot of coffee and some toasted teacakes. Pure Rock n Roll! 🙂
Lancashire Wedding Venue
Bashall Barn is a stunning and highly recommended wedding venue. Based in the heart of the Ribble Valley, Bashall describes itself thus –
“Our unique venue offers exclusive hire for every Bride and Groom with (absolutely) no hire charges; all food produced on site especially for you and a fully stocked bar licensed until 12.30am. With the most breathtaking views of the Ribble Valley it really is no wonder we’re winning so many awards.
We can accommodate 50-130 seated guests for your wedding breakfast and up to 250 guests for your evening reception; when you can enjoy our wood fired pizzas, a hog roast or a buffet.
With our very own wedding planners free to take care of all your little worries and needs, you can sit back and concentrate on what will undoubtedly be a day that yourselves and your guests never forget”.

We were gathered to photograph Anita & Molly in a choice of wedding gowns, featuring stunning bouquets and garlands designed by Mat at Red Floral. Truly inspiring, Mat’s work is simply the very best around…trust me. As a Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer, my job was also photograph the main cover shot. Based on the truly stunning and unique work of artist Frida Kahlo this was going to be the MOTHER of all floral designs. With Frida’s style as the main focal point, Mat created a truly jaw-dropping piece of floral architecture to ‘house’ Molly in. I say house – the whole structure was built on the floor with Molly lying still on a towel, in her comfies whilst the arrangement was carefull constructed around her. I’m not sure any Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer would have to photograph anything like this on a wedding day at Bashall Barn, but…you never know! At least, I did it first! I had to photograph Molly with the camera on a monopod, while our brave model looked for her reflection in the lens. We actually ‘nailed the shot’ quite quickly…but spent a few more minutes trying to improve on things. But no – image number six made the edit! For the photographers out there, it was shot on a Nikon D750 with a 20mm lens.

By now the light was fading so we still had a few shots of Molly and Anita to shoot, featuring newly designed bouquets and garlands. As a Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer, I used the white ceremony room as a light source, bouncing studio flash around the room, with a soft light on the model directly. We had to work quickly and efficiently inside the barn to get everything captured and ‘ticked off’.
Bashall Barn Wedding Photographer night photos
Once we had these images in the bag, we ventured outside for a few shots in the dark. My plan virtually failed on the spot! It was bitterly cold – and unfair for me to ask the girls to work in the conditions. Bravely I managed to get two minutes apiece out of them before I could hear chattering teeth (mine, not theirs)…thank you ladies….it was worth it….
And there we were, all finished with a massive collection of images for the design team at Little White Books to shortlist for the magazine. Here’s the finished front cover….get in touch HERE to obtain your own copy…
Shout out to the LWB Team for this shoot…
