Award-winning Country House Hotel

Here is an example of a recent Bartle Hall Wedding, photographed exclusively by myself. On the official website, Bartle Hall describe themselves very accurately; “Bartle Hall is an award-winning country house hotel in the heart of the stunning Lancashire countryside. A charming period mansion nestled within sixteen acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and woodlands, Bartle Hall offers a luxury experience like no other.

With an unsurpassed reputation as the best countryside wedding venue in the North West, fourteen gorgeous bedrooms, a choice of relaxed and fine dining options, and stunning surrounding woodlands to explore, our family-run country house hotel is the perfect venue for your dream wedding…”

Wedding preparations photographs

Gemma was getting ready at The Marriott Hotel in Preston with her mum, and sister Lucy. So were the groomsmen…a few doors away…so I had time to drop in for a few minutes to photograph the lads, already in high spirits, getting ready. These smiles are all real. Looking back at the images it feels as if I’ve asked everyone to smile for the camera all day, but I can assure you, these are all live and unstaged images! 😉

Church weddings in Lancashire

Gemma & Jake were to be married at St John Baptist Church, which was about 200m away. Brilliant! More photo time, less traffic  time! Sean, the vicar there was great to work with. Good fun, relaxed and allowed me to ‘do my job’, so long as ‘he could do his…’

Wedding flowers were courtesy of Flower Design in Lytham. It was great to meet Jason and finally work with these guys – stunning work and highly recommended!

Weddings in Preston

With the church being so close by, everything was running like clockwork. St John Baptist Church is a lovely classic style, and as the choir appeared together with the organist, things were starting to ‘hot up’ a little. I do love a good church wedding! As the guests gathered inside, Gemma and Lucy appeared at the gate, driven by dad in his stunning Bentley. Time for a few formal images – family heirloom photos to be cherished in years to come, then off into the dark sanctity of St John’s…

From church, via the country lanes we arrived at Bartle Hall in around fifteen minutes or so. The Balmoral Suite was all set up waiting for us, the guests mingling inside and out. Perfect. Our schedule was a little tight so we opted to photograph a few couples portraits straight waway, so the rest of the afternoon could flow. Fifteen minutes later, we were back and the celebrations began. I have been a photographer at a Bartle Hall wedding a few times. Why not check out Pippa & James, Krissy & Gary, or Dawn & Michael to see more of my Bartle Hall Wedding work.

Wedding speeches at Bartle Hall

As the afternoon merged into early evening, a stunning rainbow triggered the traditional speeches. Led by Gemma’s father, the three speeches were a proper rollercoaster –  laughter, tears, (shock!) and heartfelt messages from all concerned. Brilliant to witness and be part of this special day. As the speeches ended, I duly met up with DJ Supremo Andy Murphy, who had been hired to  ‘Spin the Choonz…’ It was great catching up with him again over a quick coffee. Soon it would be cake cutting and first dance time…and time to leave the party in Andy’s capable hands…

Bartle Hall Wedding

Pippa & James’ wedding photography from the stunning Bartle Hall wedding venue

Recommended Lancashire Wedding Venue

Here is one of my recent Bartle Hall wedding photography commissions. I met Pippa & James over a year ago at the Great Northern Wedding Show at Bolton USN Arena, where they booked me for their summer Bartle Hall Wedding. On the morning of the wedding, I duly went to Pippa’s parent’s farm house in Leyland for the bridal preparation photographs. The music and hairdryers were on full, and spirits were high. The morning was all very relaxed – though a sly bite from a croissant (by a bridesmaid) failed to pass the Nikons by… 😉

Gorgeous wedding flowers

The sunshine was strong and the temperatures already rising as I got to play a little with the wedding flowers. I just love this simple, graphic composition of the wedding bouquest on a red carpet. By now hair and makeup was almost complete and it was nearly time for Pippa & James’ Bartle Hall Wedding. As mum carefully helped put Pippa in her gorgeous wedding dress – the gang were banging on the bedroom door, despartae to see her. With a first view from an emotional dad, the posse piled in whooping and squealing with delight…

Church wedding in Leyland

Before it was time for the Bartle Hall Wedding Reception, it was the all-important church ceremony at the aptly-named Leyland St James’ Church. I met James and the groomsmen as they arrived in good time. No pub and a nerve-settling drink for these guys, they were under orders I think 🙂 The ceremony was to be led by close family friend Tracy, who was just brillaint fun and let me do my job prpoeprly with no restrictions. Thank you!

Classic wedding cars

Pippa arrived with her dad in a stunning 1952 Bentley, expertly driven and supplied by Broughton Wedding Cars. A beautiful piece of machinery for a stunning Lancashire Bride! Pippa & James’ wedding was a little more traditional than a lot of weddings I photograph. And it was good working ‘in the groove’ too. Sometimes a little more formality doesn’t hurt, though I still had plenty of time available to ‘do my thing’. With proud dad on her arm, an excited Pippa headed down the big red carpet towards a slightly nervous James…

Bartle Hall wedding in the sunshine

The day just got hotter and hotter, so as we arrived at Bartle Hall, we braved ten minutes’ shooting some stylish couple portraits in the harsh sun while the guests went to the bar. Yes, I onow the photography books tell us not to do it, blah blah blah. But where’s the fun in listening to boring technicalities. Let’s get some sunlight bouncing around the lens! The venue looked stunning and the guests enjoyed the afternoon sunshine on the patio.

Speeches at a Lancashire wedding

After the family group photos, plus a couple of grabbed ‘on the fly’ portraits of Pippa, it was time for the speeches. James’ dad was also Best Man, and had plenty of information on the poor groom. Plenty! The speeches were hilarious, with a few raised eyebrows here and there – plus the odd one-liner to make Gran howl out loudly amongst the general laughter.

Natural bride and groom photographs

After the speeches, the temperature had cooled down enough to shoot some ‘proper’ couple portraits. The light was gorgeous too, so we nailed a new collection in around fifteen minutes. Nobody missed us – the room was being refreshed for the evening party anyway. Soon it would be time for the cake cut and first dance, and to get the party started!

Bartle Hall Wedding Photography – Krissy & Gary

Bartle Hall Wedding Photography – Krissy & Gary

bartle_hall_wedding_photography01

Here is an example of my being a Bartle Hall wedding photographer. Back in September, Krissy & Gary were married at this beautiful venue, situated just outside Preston. Being a Manchester Wedding Photographer, it made a change to get up the M6 to Bartle Hall – a venue I’ve worked at a time or two, to photograph Krissy & Gary’s Special Day. I felt a little in awe of the ‘crew’ list especially – Red Floral Architecture, Philip White (Videographer), Flossy & Leigh on Hair & Makeup, Ann McKavney from Eleventh Heaven, Paul Pashley and his band, plus Steve Mitchell DJ as MC for the day. Phew! Oh…and their wedding has just been featured in the new edition of the Little White Books Magazine!

If anything, Krissy & Gary’s wedding was always going to be about two things – fun, and flowers! You’ll see…

bartle_hall_wedding_photography02bartle_hall_wedding_photography03bartle_hall_wedding_photography04

I arrived at Bartle Hall on a slightly overcast morning to find the Red Floral team in full swing….from stairwell decorations, through the beautiful ceremony room, and into the Balmoral Suite, the décor just got better and better. I’ve worked with Red Floral a few times, and they never fail to impress me with their vision. The Balmoral Suite was just stunning…sitting there, all quietly waiting for the hustle and bustle to come. As Krissy and the girls arrived from hair and makeup at a local hotel, so did the bouquets – beautiful arrangements for Bride and Bridesmaids.

With around 90 mins before the ceremony start, Krissy’s room was full on with girls getting ready, hair and makeup tweaks and final applications, champagne…more champagne, and me, photographing everything as it happened, plus dress, shoes, jewelry detail images….we were all busy!

Busy or not, I had time to nip down the corridor to catch Gary opening a wedding gift from his bride to be. I was a tad jealous…I love watches too…. 😉

As the guests gathered downstairs, and the general pace and noise levels subtly increased, we were nearly ready. A couple of last minute shots of Krissy on the stairs, gathering her nerves, and we off!

Having already cried twice, Krissy assured me that she wouldn’t need any more hankies for the ceremony. Wrong… 😉

With a brief twenty minute interlude, Philip and I went to photograph some bride & groom portraits, then a few family group shots…

…with all still running to schedule, we then went to see the final room design for the wedding breakfast. Wow!! Simple as….

On hand to act as MC for the afternoon, the bridal party were introduced to thunderous applause by the other guests. Start as you mean to go on, eh? Up first was Chris, Krissy’s dad. A brilliant speech, full of emotion (and jokes), leaving a slightly nervous-looking groom ‘to follow’. No problem for Gary, as also his two best men – funny, touching and entertaining. Then a slight addition to the speeches, as Sally, Krissy’s Maid of Honour stood and spoke a few kind words…

From the wedding breakfast it was off into party mode, with the brilliant Paul Pashley and his band and Steve sharing live music and DJ duties late into the night….

So, thanks for having me on board guys…..loved it, and I’m guessing the flowers have all been removed by now. Or…perhaps not…;-)

Celebrating the wedding of Dawn & Michael at Bartle Hall in Lancashire

Here is an example of my Bartle Hall Wedding Photography Lancashire. Dawn & Michael commissioned me to capture their special day back in September. Bartle Hall is a beautiful country house situated between Preston and Blackpool, with around 16 acres of grounds….a brilliant Lancashire wedding venue.

Music was provided by the very talented Alex Birtwell. The guy seemingly never stopped playing all day. And when he wasn’t playing, he was the MC. The evening party was brilliant, with ‘proper’ lights ‘n’ stuff, and together with his brother Lewis, put on a show as large as any live band…just with the two of them! Well worth checking out…
